InPronunci is a research-based American accent training app and program. It was created by Prof. Alex, Ph.D. Accent Coach, Doctor of Education, and professional linguist, on the findings of his doctoral research: students who actively take part in learning reach significantly better results than students in traditional instruction, where they only receive information. Every InPronunci training tool is designed to keep the student active.

Section 01What the doctoral research tested
Prof. Alex’s doctoral research (2011–2016) studied interactive foreign-language education for university students. In a pedagogical experiment with experimental and control groups, students learned English either through interactive teaching or through traditional teaching. Statistical analysis with the Mann-Whitney test confirmed that the interactive group significantly outperformed the control group on the English progress test. Listening comprehension improved consistently across three groups of students. In the interactive format, 93% of students reported practical use of English, and 81% reported public-speaking practice.
The research was published in peer-reviewed journals, including Procedia – Social and Behavioral Sciences (Elsevier), where it has been cited more than 30 times by other researchers.
Section 02The principle: active learners versus passive learners
The research separates two kinds of learning:
| Passive (traditional) learning | Active (interactive) learning |
|---|---|
| The student receives information and repeats it | The student takes part, acts, and reflects |
| Reproductive and performative activity | Constructive and creative activity |
| The teacher or the material leads everything | The student is a significant and influential participant |
The central conclusion is that effective learning shifts students from passive recipients to active, engaged participants. The research also confirmed that this works in online form: an interactive e-course with independent work and self-assessment was one of the forms tested.
Section 03How InPronunci applies the research
Each InPronunci tool follows the same session logic the research identified: immersion, active development, then reflection.
- Pronunci Instructions: immersion. Pronunci Instructions work the way a real accent coach works in 1-on-1 American accent training. They do not only give information: they ask questions, interact with the student, and guide the student to perform each articulation step with the speech organs.
- Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators: active development. The simulators put the student in an active articulation, pronunciation, and speaking mode. The student participates in the articulation of each sound and trains the speech organs step by step, improving American sounds and fluency.
- Your Coach vs. My Pronunci and the AI Accent Coach: reflection. The student compares their own pronunciation with the coach’s model, finds the difference, and corrects it. In the View Feedback section, the AI Accent Coach identifies pronunciation mistakes and lets the student take part in correcting them through phonetic exercises, sentences, and paragraphs. The student learns to recognize and fix their own mistakes.
Inside the InPronunci App
Train all American sounds with unique and advanced Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators for proper articulation and pronunciation
This is the lesson on developing the American Unvoiced Sound [t]: Pronunci Speaks gives the instruction first, then the Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulator trains the tongue tip and the airflow release.
- EffectiveMost apps offer visual learning. InPronunci’s Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators train the tongue, lips, jaw and airflow for each American sound.
- ProductiveThe Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators actually train your speech organs and control them, so you build a steady habit of proper pronunciation.
- ResultsStudents pronounce individual American sounds with almost native-like pronunciation.
In the Premium Plan, students add 1-on-1 accent training with Prof. Alex, where they experience Cognitive Accent Training directly with the coach.
Cognitive Accent Training
Compare Your Coach vs. Your Pronunci
In every practice sentence, students listen to Your Coach, record their own voice, and compare it with Your Pronunci, so they consciously notice and correct each sound.
![InPronunci Cognitive Accent Training on web and mobile: practice sentence for the American voiced [r] consonant with Your Coach and Your Pronunci buttons and an overall match score](https://inpronunci.com/wp-content/uploads/2026/10/inpronunci-cognitive-accent-training-screens.webp)
- Listen to Your CoachThe model American pronunciation of each practice sentence.
- Compare with Your PronunciYour own recorded pronunciation, side by side with the coach.
- Correct with feedbackThe match score and color-coded letters guide each correction.
InPronunci places the student in a student-centered, active role. Instead of passively listening and repeating, students train each American sound with the Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators, follow Pronunci Instructions, practice, compare, adjust and practice again. InPronunci applies the interactive, student-centered approach that Prof. Alex’s doctoral research found more effective than traditional, teacher-centered instruction.
Section 04InPronunci Results: Premium Plan with Interactive 1-on-1 American Accent Training with Prof. Alex
These students trained in the InPronunci Premium Plan, a hybrid program that combines interactive 1-on-1 American accent training with Prof. Alex with daily practice in InPronunci: Pronunci Instructions, Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators, and Your Coach vs. My Pronunci. In the 1-on-1 sessions, students experience Cognitive Accent Training directly with Prof. Alex. Each student was recorded before and after training and evaluated by Prof. Alex on a scale from 0 to 100, where 100 = native speaker.
Premium Plan result
“In my opinion, InPronunci is the best app for American accent training because it works exactly like Prof. Alex conducts his classes. It gives clear guidance, structured practice, and focused pronunciation training.”

“Prof. Alex is an excellent accent coach, and he puts a lot of practice into you. As a non-native English speaker, I wanted to reduce my foreign accent, and training my American accent with him has been a great experience.”

“Many of my students once believed they could never sound like this. School taught them grammar and vocabulary, but not how to train their English speech. That is what we do together, step by step, until you speak English independently and with confidence.”
These are individual results from the Premium Plan. A structured study of InPronunci results, using AI Accent Coach scores at the start and after 8–12 weeks of training, is planned and will be published on this page.
Section 05Why InPronunci is different from video, audio, and picture-based tools
Video courses, audio courses, and picture-based instructions keep the student in a passive position: they present a sound, and the student only receives it and repeats it. In the terms of the research, this is reproductive learning, the form that interactive teaching outperformed. InPronunci is built entirely around active participation, so it applies the conditions the research found to be more effective.
Section 06Published research on articulatory training
The Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators also apply findings from published pronunciation research. Studies consistently confirm the benefit of 2D and 3D models of the lips and oral cavity for pronunciation learning (Rogerson-Revell, 2021). Training with articulatory targets has improved learners’ pronunciation of the American English vowel /æ/ (Suemitsu et al., 2015) and improved both production and perception of the sound (articulatory-target training study).
Section 07Upcoming publication: 2D Sound Motion Technology
Prof. Alex is preparing a scientific article on 2D Sound Motion Technology, including the Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators, for publication in a peer-reviewed journal on technology in language-teaching practice. The article describes how the simulators put students in an active articulation, pronunciation, and speaking mode, and how this applies the principles of interactive learning and articulatory training to American accent training. This page will be updated with the full reference once the article is published.
Section 08Research-based, stated honestly
The teaching method is what drives student success. Prof. Alex’s doctoral research showed successful results with the interactive teaching method: students who took an active part in learning significantly outperformed students in traditional instruction. Prof. Alex modified this interactive method for American accent training and applied it while creating InPronunci, through Pronunci Instructions, Interactive Visual 2D Sound Simulators, and Your Coach vs. My Pronunci.
InPronunci applies the findings of Prof. Alex’s doctoral research and published research on articulatory training. The InPronunci app itself has not yet been the subject of a controlled study.
Questions & Answers
FAQ
01
Is InPronunci research-based?
Yes. InPronunci is built on Prof. Alex’s doctoral research, which found that interactive learning significantly outperformed traditional instruction, and on published research on articulatory training.
